Did you know that Dolly inspired Olivia to record her own version as a heartfelt thank you after Olivia faced criticism for winning the Country Music Association's Female Vocalist of the Year award? Dolly Parton stood up for Olivia, and so their friendship began!
While Dolly's original is a classic, Olivia brought her own fun, high-energy twist to it in 1976.
Olivia's last recording was a duet of "Jolene" with Dolly, released in 2023 after her passing - a beautiful tribute to their decades-long friendship!
